CapX2020 transmission line completed

Hampton, Minn. (WKBT) — After years of planning and debate, the CapX2020 powerline project running through Western Wisconsin is complete.

The 156-mile line stretching from La Crosse to Hampton, Minnesota was finished earlier this month and is now powered up as part of the electric grid.

A dedication event for the new transmission line was held Monday in Hampton.

The $500-million project began in 2013 and included the construction of three new substations.
