Cardinal, Archbishop of Luxembourg to visit La Crosse
Visit comes as La Crosse poised to add Luxembourg sister city.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A cardinal of the Catholic Church is coming to La Crosse.
Jean Claude Hollerich will attend a mass at Holy Trinity Church Tuesday.
Hollerich is also the archbishop of Luxembourg.
His visit comes as La Crosse prepares to name Junglinster Luxembourg as the city’s eighth ‘sister city’.
“It’s a real tribute not just to Wisconsin, but it’s a real tribute to La Crosse because we have a number of relationships with Luxembourg,” said Luxembourg/American Descendants Society of La Crosse Region co-founder James Birnbaum.
Hollerich will visit parts of the Midwest for two weeks.
Following the mass, a closed reception will be held at the FSPA lobby of Viterbo University’s Fine Arts Center.
