Case of mumps confirmed on UW-L campus
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is urging students to get vaccinated after a student on campus was diagnosed with mumps. There are also two suspected cases.
Although only one case has been diagnosed, school officials want students to be aware of the symptoms.
Mumps is a viral illness that affects the salivary glands in the throat.
Health officials say it will start out just like any ordinary cold, but will then progress into swelling of the face.
