Celebrate Onalaska goes on despite all-day rainfall

Several outdoor events had to be cancelled, but some activities were still held inside the Omni Center

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – The rain made outdoor activities and events uncertain Saturday, but there’s a saying that goes “the show must go on,” and that’s what happened for Celebrate Onalaska.

Some of the outdoor events, like the Market in the Park and the 5K run/walk had to be cancelled because of the rain.

But the free celebration was still able to hold several activities inside the Omni Center, including a cornhole tournament, food and inflatable rides for the kids, and a concert from Vic Ferrari.

Organizers say they were happy to get back into the swing of things after taking a year off because of COVID, even though everything didn’t go exactly as planned.

“I would say patience for sure,” Festival Foods community involvement specialist Stosh Stiloski said. “And here at the Omni Center, we’re very blessed to have an indoor and an outdoor option. So with all the activities going on, we had a lot of stuff planned for outside that we moved inside now.”

If you were hoping to catch the fireworks tonight, unfortunately you’ll have to wait until Sunday night. Fireworks are expected to light up the skies at 9:30 p.m.
