Central Football excited to rack up the points in full fall season
Tuesday morning’s weather definitely brought the vibes of a fall season, and that’s fitting, because Tuesday also marked the first day of high school football practice in the Coulee Region.
With the opening games just over two weeks away, we’ll start out fall football previews with one of the hottest teams from the alternate spring season: Central.
The RiverHawks went 4-1 in spring, putting up 34 points a game with one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks on this side of the state in Mason Herlitzke, who totaled 1,450 yards.
Mitch Olson replaces Tony Servais at the head coach spot but says the spread offense and overall schemes will stay the same. COVID protocols may still play a role this season, but the team’s just excited to be back in the fall.
“[The COVID situation] seems like it’s ever-changing,” said Olson. “I know we’ll have to wear face masks when we’re on the buses, but when we’re out here, it’s same old football.”
“It’s so exciting,” Herlitzke said. “I can’t wait to play the teams we didn’t get to play, and the teams we played again, but I can’t wait to play a nine-game season.”
Central opens at home against Eau Claire North on the 19th.
