Central High School Student organizes ‘Culture Day Event’

One local high school student is hoping to inspire others to open their horizons and learn more about different cultures.

Kaylee Larson is a senior at Central High School and has spent the last six months planning and organizing her ‘Culture Day Event.’

Attendees learned about traditions and holidays from four different cultures that are taught at Central High School, including German, Spanish, Chinese and French.

They also got to try different foods from each culture.

Larson said she has always been fascinated with other cultures and hopes this event encourages others to do the same.

“I hope parents learn that their kids can be open to other cultures and different languages not just the specific ones around them, but also ones in different areas of the world,” said Larson.

Larson organized the event as part of her Gold Award, which is the highest achievement a Girls Scout can earn.
