Chad Erickson Du-Run-Run at River Side Park Sunday

Duatholon fundraiser for kids, raises money for special olympics

Area kids will have a chance to take part in a race of their own this weekend.

Sunday marks the 9th annual Chad Erickson’s Du-Run-Run at Riverside Park in La Crosse.

It’s a duathalon fundraiser just for kids and it benefits the special olympics of Wisconsin. It features a short run, a bike ride, and to top it off another short run to finish the race.

“It’s in memory of one of our athletes Chad who passed away and so his family has been really active when their son was involved and they continue to be involved with the organization,” said La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department Kerry Gloede.

Any child ages two to 12 can take part in the race. There are different races depending on the child’s age.

You can check in early from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Black River Beach Neighborhood Center in La Crosse.
