Charges dropped against former basketball coach

Prosecutors have dropped sexual exploitation charges against a former high school girls basketball coach.

KCCI-TV reports the charges were dropped Thursday against 31-year-old Melissa Eshelman, of Bondurant.

Eshelman was arrested in November 2012 and charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, but authorities declined to specify the allegations against her.

On Thursday, the Polk County Attorney’s Office filed documents declaring an intent not to prosecute and to dismiss charges.

Eshelman resigned from Bondurant-Farrar High School shortly before her arrest.
