Charges possible in crash that killed 2

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say charges are likely in a Portage County crash that killed two women.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested the 22-year-old driver of a pickup that crashed into several trees Saturday in the Town of Linwood. Authorities say Melissa Peterson and Stephanie Eberhardt, both 21, were back seat passengers and were killed in the crash. A front seat passenger, a 21-year-old Rudolph man, was extricated from the truck and airlifted to a Marshfield hospital. Authorities say he’s in fair condition.

Daily Tribune Media says the driver is in the Portage County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday for a bond hearing.
