Chart announces fifth round of lay-offs in a year
105 employees to be laid off before end of year
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Chart Industries announced Wednesday it will layoff a group of employees for the fifth time in the past year.
A total of 105 employees will be let go from the company’s brazed aluminum heat exchanger manufacturing facility before the end of December.
The company says this round of layoffs is due to unexpected schedule delays to orders currently in a backlog.
“We have not taken this decision, nor do we take any lay-off decision, lightly,” a company spokesman said in a statement to News 8. “(We) remain steadfastly committed to manufacturing in La Crosse long term.”
Chart will still employ more than 300 people in La Crosse.
The company previously announced layoffs in January, April, July and October of this year.
