Child diabetes is on the rise according to Mayo Clinic Health System experts
LA CROSSE (WKBT) – November is National Diabetes Month and experts are urging parents to get their kids tested.
Mayo Health Clinic System says that children and teens who develop diabetes are at higher risk for more health problems.
Experts say that recognizing the signs early on is key.
“It would be using the bathroom more and (being) really, really thirsty,” said pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Ana Creo. “Sometimes kids can also lose weight, as they’re not able to store what they’re eating in their body anymore without insulin.”
Experts urge parents to talk with their child’s pediatrician if you have any questions or concerns.
