Chili cook-off supports area children living with diabetes
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)– A chili cook-off will help serve area children with juvenile diabetes and their families. The second annual Chad Erickson Memorial Chili and Soup Cook-off was held Saturday.
The event at Rod’s Ride on Powersports helps support the Thunder Ride. It’s a ride they do every year with hundreds of motorcyclists to support the cause.
Since organizers started the ride, they’ve raised more than $250,000 dollars.
“So we’re really excited to raise money for a really good local cause that goes to local families [and] local kids,” said Rod Hall, owner of Rod’s Ride on Powersports.
The money is distributed to both Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System. Families can use the money for doctor visits, specialized equipment, child care and more.
