‘Christmas Mountain’ display celebrates what makes the season special

Whether it is in a park, your favorite shop or just with friends, there a lot of big details that can make the holiday season special.

A display in Sparta is celebrating holiday favorites in a small way.

The ‘Christmas Mountain’ display is open to the public at the Monroe County Local History room and museum.

The display of about 130 buildings was created from the personal collection of Sparta woman who passed away earlier this year.

The display brings back a tradition from decades ago.

“It kind of reminds me of those animated department store window fronts from the 1950s and 60s and 70s. It’s very much like that, I think, but done in a miniature scale,” said Monroe County Local History Room and Museum director Jarrod Roll.

The collection will be on display thru January 18-th during regular hours at the Monroe County Local History Room in Sparta.

Admission is free.
