Christmas tree pick up in La Crosse starts Jan. 2

Trees should be placed on curb

Now that the holidays are winding down, it’s time to start thinking about what to do with your Christmas tree.

La Crosse will start collecting Christmas trees Jan. 2.

All you have to do is take off all the decorations and set it out on your curb for pick up.

Officials say you shouldn’t bundle the trees or cover them in bags. This makes it easier to dispose of once the trees are collected.

“We end up chipping them down, some for residential use if they’d like and some will be burned for energy,” said Brandon Shea, assistant street superintendent in La Crosse.

Officials ask trees be placed on the curb no later than 7 a.m. Pick up is scheduled to end on the 9th.
