Church offers taste of the Mediterranean

Annual event features food, music and activities for the kids

A taste of the Mediterranean was on display in La Crosse Sunday.

St. Elias Orthodox Church held their annul Mediterranean Multicultural Festival.

It featured live music, dancers and other entertainment. There was also balloon sculptures and face painting for the kids.

The big attraction was the food, featuring cuisine from several different countries all over the Mediterranean. “The similarities are amazing between the different countries, the cabbage rolls and the grape leaves and they lamb is universal and the different things like that that we serve here, all are within the same pallet of the various ethnicities, it’s wonderful,” said church member Michael Ablan.

This was the 34th year of the event, but the first time it was held at St. Elias Church. In years past it was held at the Oktoberfest grounds.
