City of La Crosse is prepared for winter weather

The La Crosse area saw its most impactful snowfall of the season

La Crosse’s fleet of snow plows were out at four Monday morning. The city sends more than 30 people out to combat each snowfall, with workers operating plows, graters and sidewalk machines.

City street officials recommend everyone take more time to get around safely.

“Drive cautiously, leave early, give yourself extra time, and keep in mind that road conditions change pretty rapidly. If you think everything seems pretty good, the next block it could be different,” said La Crosse Street Superintendent Mike La Fleur.

Crews also expect to have enough salt and sand mixture for the year.

La Crosse residents can get some of the city’s mix for their own use. It is available at Fire Stations 1, 2, and 4, and at Erickson Field.
