City of La Crosse looking to create residency incentives
30% of city employees live outside La Crosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse is hoping to make more of its city employees, city residents.
Right now, the city employs about 450 workers. Of those, nearly 30% do not live within the city limits.
The numbers were a point of discussion at a meeting Monday, as well as incentives to encourage the employees to move in town.
Some ideas include forgivable home loans, stipends for living in certain neighborhoods, and retirement funds.
A committee is expected to continue brain- storming next month and have a solid plan in place to include in next year’s budget.
