City of Onalaska getting ready to party
ONALASKA, Wis. — The city of Onalaska is getting ready to party. They are holding the Great River Block Party this Saturday.
With the construction on Hwy. 35, part of Main Street is closed down and the city felt it would be a good place for a block party.
There will be food as well as live music by bands like Starship and 38-special.
Organizers say just planning the event is bringing the community closer together. “This has given the opportunity for some of the neighbors to get to know each other where you kind of see each other in the morning and say hello but we all came together and thought of ideas, where to put things, so it’s been a great experience all around,” said the owner of Maggie’s Restaurant Mary Cody.
The party starts at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street between Hwy. 35 and 3rd Street. Tickets are $35 in advance or $45 at the gate.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Centering Onalaska which is raising funds to spruce up the downtown area.
