City seeks ideas for ‘Imagine 2040 La Crosse Downtown Plan’

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The city of La Crosse is seeking public input in formulating the “Imagine 2040 La Crosse Downtown Plan,” starting with a “Design Studio” with stations along Main Street Wednesday and Thursday.
“We need your input to create a visionary, yet realistic plan that represents everyone’s voice,” according to a city news release.
The Design Studio will start at the Main Street Plaza at Second Street and travel up Main Street to Fifth Avenue South. People can suggest ideas at any of the stations.
Downtown La Crosse, an urban district where people work, live and play, reflects the unique businesses, institutions, historic buildings and activities that thrive downtown, according to the news release.
The city and Downtown Main Street Inc. have worked together to plan the downtown’s future. Imagine 2040 will update the City Vision 2020 plan in light of market changes, new developments and economic evolutions.
The process normally would include opportunities for in-person idea exchanges and meetings, but Zoom meetings and online engagement are planned because of COVID-19.
More information is available at the Imagine Downtown website, where you also can take a survey and suggest ideas on an interactive map.
The site also includes a YouTube message from Mayor Tim Kabat.
