Clark County officer involved shooting being investigated
MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) — A Clark County officer and sheriff’s deputy are being investigated for a fatal shooting.
An officer from the Loyal Police Department and a Clark County sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over a suspect with a felony warrant. The suspect led the officers on a high-speed chase that ended after the car hit stop sticks.
The person got out of the car with a gun and exchanged fire with the officers. The suspect was shot and died from injuries at an area hospital.
The Clark County sheriff’s deputy and Loyal police officer have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is department policy.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Wisconsin State Patrol, Clark County Coroner and UW Hospital are participating in the investigation, along with cooperation from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Loyal Police Department.
