Clean energy forum takes place in La Crosse
Sustainable La Crosse Commission discusses energy
LA CROSSE, Wisc. (WKBT) — Several Wisconsin cities, including Madison and Eau Claire have made plans to move to 100% renewable energy by 2050 or sooner.
Sustainable La Crosse Commission is now proposing to do the same.
The panel discussed La Crosse’s 2009 clean energy goals and realized they needed to focus more on energy efficient updates.
A recent report from the Center on Wisconsin Strategies shows that moving to 100% clean renewable energy would bring enormous economic, jobs, and health benefits.
Chair of the Sustainable La Crosse Commission, Rick Cornforth, says ” I think it’s important for the public and taxpayers to understand that the investment upfront in either solar, wind. or other renewable energies, they may experience some sticker-shock, but overtime those investments will pay for themselves and impact their tax dollars.”
The commission says with new technologies and circumstance clean energy goals are within reach.
