Volunteers clean up Grandad Bluff

The group is focusing on cleaning up trash, graffiti, and removing invasive plant species like buckthorn from the park

LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – For the second year in a row, local volunteers worked together to help clean Grandad Bluff.

The family-friendly event encourages everyone in the community to join in and participate.

The group is focusing on cleaning up trash, graffiti, and removing invasive plant species like buckthorn from the park.

While the event is mainly for cleaning the area, it also gives people a chance to see experience the brand new trails throughout Grandad Bluff and Hixon Forest.

“We’ve got a beautiful October day out here, to get a lot of people out, checking out the new project and continuing to remove some of the undesirable trash and evasive species out here on the bluff,” said Jed Olsen, the Project Coordinator for the Grandad Bluff Trail Project.

Last year, the group was able to clean up over 6,000 pounds of trash out of the woods.
