Clinton firefighters battle blaze across street

CLINTON, Iowa (AP) — It didn’t take long for Clinton firefighters to handle a blaze at an apartment building: It was right across the street.

The fire began early Sunday morning. The Clinton Herald reports a fire engine, ladder truck, two ambulances and command vehicle soon were deployed. No injuries have been reported.

Officials say the flames were contained on the building’s back porch and were extinguished within 13 minutes of the alarm that sounded just before 2:50 a.m.

The fire cause is being investigated.
