Co-worker accused of killing Subway employee
PORTAGE, Wis. — A Rio man is facing first-degree intentional homicide charges for allegedly killing his coworker.
Jordan Scott, 19, was arrested following the shooting in a Subway restaurant parking lot at 2931 New Pinery Road in Portage Thursday just after 9 a.m.
Police said Scott shot 22-year-old David Johnson, of Pardeeville, more than five times.
Both men worked at the sandwich shop, authorities said. The two got into a heated argument at work about a week ago.
“Our victim was arriving for work around 9 o’clock. The suspect wasn’t supposed to arrive until later in the day so our suspect came up specifically, we feel, at that time to shoot and kill David Johnson,” said Detective Mark Hahn of the Portage Police Department.
Police said employees heard the shots and ran outside not knowing what happened. Scott reportedly fled the scene and was later located by Columbus police.
Two weapons were found in Scott’s vehicle, police said. He’s expected to be in court early next week.
Divine Savor Healthcare was locked down for a short time following the shooting but has since resumed normal operations.
Portage School District officials said at about 9:15 a.m. they put in place extra security measures in response to the police investigation. Students were not allowed outside and no students could leave without a parent picking them up.
The security measures were lifted at about 10:10 a.m.
