College, high school anglers to launch from Stoddard in Major League Fishing contests

STODDARD, Wis. (WKBT) — Stoddard will be the site of college and high school bass fishing tournaments Friday and Saturday in conjunction with Major League Fishing.

The La Crosse County Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting the contests on the Mississippi River, during which takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The tournaments will showcase some of the top young anglers from across the region competing for cash and prizes and angling for their chances to advance to the MLF Abu Garcia College Fishing National Championship and High School Fishing National Championship.

The college anglers will launch at 6:30 a.m. Friday at the Stoddard Boat Ramp at at 502 Forest Lane, where the weigh-in will be at 2:30 p.m.

The high school competitors will take off from the ramp at 6:30 a.m. Saturday and weigh in at 2 p.m.

Major League Fishing is the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, producing more than 250 events a year at some of the most prestigious fisheries in the world. The MLF roster of bass anglers includes the world’s top pros and more than 30,000 competitors in the United States and 13 countries.
