Collin Hirner

Collin J. Hirner, 85 of Trempealeau passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at St. Ann’s Health Care Center, Winona. He was born in Fords, N.J. on September 15, 1935 to John and Katherine (Wainwright) Hirner.

Collin 2Collin served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after 20 years of service. On May 21, 1960 Collin married Edye Wallace and they celebrated over 61 years of marriage.

Collin was one of the founders of the Trempealeau Youth Sports Club, a past member of the Trempealeau Lions Club, a member of VFW Post 1915, a past member of the Centerville Curling Club and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Galesville. He was an avid gardener, starting his plants in his basement and sharing the bounty with friends and neighbors.

Collin is survived by his loving wife, Edye; daughter, Susan (Bruce) Cantor of St. Louis Park, MN; two sons, Mike (Kelly) Hirner of Shorewood, MN. and Glenn (Gwen) Hirner of Green Bay, WI.; and five grandchildren, Ben and Isaac Cantor, and Nicholas, Miranda, and Brett Hirner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen (Steve) Rusnak.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at First Presbyterian Church, 20237 W Ridge Avenue, Galesville. Pastor Michael Hibbs will officiate. A visitation will be at the church on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Lunch will follow the service at First Presbyterian Church.

The Dickinson Family Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Disabled American Veterans or the Trempealeau Youth Sports Club.
