Community members work on ‘putting’ an end to homelessness in area

75 to 100 people receive housing assistance from CouleeCap

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – Community members are “putting” an end to homelessness in our area.

CouleeCap held its annual golf outing Monday to support the organization’s homeless programs.

About 75 to 100 formerly homeless individuals and families in the La Crosse area receive help from the organization.

That’s why support from events like the golf outing is so important to the organization.

“There are federal grants to address homelessness in our area,” said CouleeCap executive director Hetti Brown. “But those federal grants require agencies like CouleeCap to raise local funds to match those grants.”

CouleeCap leaders say that housing insecurity in the area has increased since the pandemic began.
