Community Conversation: discussion focuses on people experiencing homelessness in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Helping the homeless was the focus of a monthly meeting on Wednesday.

The La Crosse Interfaith Leaders Coalition invites the community to gather and discuss issues within the La Crosse community.

The city’s Homeless Coordinator, Brian Sampson, held a presentation about what’s being done for people experiencing homelessness.

He says he’s hoping meetings like these help everyone understand that these people are their neighbors and that homelessness is a complex problem.

“There’s no magic wand. If there was one solution, it would’ve been done by now,” said Sampson. “Everybody is their own person. If you’ve met one person experiencing homelessness, you’ve only met one person experiencing homelessness. There’s not just one solution that can be applied to everyone.”

These community conversations happen once a month at noon at the English Lutheran Church.
