Concordia Ballroom gets dancers up to speed with free polka lessons
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WBKT) — Dancers looking to learn some traditional moves for this year’s Oktoberfest could take part in free polka lessons at the Concordia Ballroom on Sunday.
The event lasted from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and was offered to beginners and experts alike.
Concordia Ballroom hosts a wide range of dance lessons for different styles.
Laurayne Duerkop, a long-time volunteer with the Concordia Ballroom, feels that teaching polka lessons is about more than just a good time.
“It’s good exercise. And what I like about dancing is we have different people that come here, and they get to be our friends,” said Duerkop.
Concordia Ballroom has dance events with live music every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $10.
