Construction underway for new Winona Family YMCA building
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) — After seven years of discussion about a new facility, construction is now underway for the Winona Family YMCA.
The new building will be located near the intersection of Highway 61 and Mankato Avenue.
A partnership with Winona Health is allowing for construction of the new building.
Parts of the YMCA’s current facility are more than 60 years old.
“Our initial design has this first space, but we have a space next to it for a phase two, so anything that doesn’t get factored into our first design, we’ve got space to expand into,” said Janneke Sobeck, CEO of Winona Family YMCA.
The new facility is expected to be open next year.
