Consumer Advisory issued for Westby Creamery cottage cheese
WESTBY, Wis. (WKBT) — A consumer alert is being issued for a product from the Westby Creamery.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is issuing the alert for 4% cottage cheese made by Westby Creamery.
Routine tests found the presence of an enzyme that may be a sign the cottage cheese wasn’t pasteurized enough.
Nearly 700 cases of the cottage cheese was distributed across the state and to Illinois.
Consumers are being told to look out for cottage cheese sold on or before Aug. 26th in 16, 22, and 24 ounce containers. The containers will contain lot code 10-6-16 cc.
This is not a recall, but people who bought the item are encouraged to throw it out or return it or risk getting sick.
