Coulee Council on Addictions announces plans for new building
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — An organization benefiting those with addictions is launching a new campaign.
During its annual spring brunch, Coulee Council on Addictions announced its goal of building the Coulee Recovery Center.
The building would replace the organization’s current center in a 100-year-old building on West Avenue in La Crosse.
The officials say the new 13,000 square-feet building would allow more people in the area to receive treatment and provide room for new services to be introduced.
They say giving this space to those struggling with addiction in the area is an important step forward for the community.
“It means that there’s a safe place for people that are in recovery, that they have a place to go. There’s a place for them to socialize and find other people of like. There’s a place for people in crisis to go so that they have a direction so that we can send them someplace,” said Dan Radtke, vice president of the board of directors for the council.
The organization is hoping to raise just under $3 million and hopes to have the building complete by next year.
