Coulee Region Job Fair brings 70 area employers to Onalaska to meet potential workers

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – The Coulee Region Job Fair brought together 70 employers on Thursday afternoon.

It’s the largest annual job fair in the region.

Employers offered everything from entry-level positions to full-time career spots.

Organizers said there was something for everyone of all ages, with booths from construction, manufacturing, and health care companies.

“The job seekers today have been across the board, we’re really proud of that, where we have something for high schoolers, people coming out of college, or maybe someone changing careers,” said Business Service Coordinator for Western Wisconsin’s Workforce Development Board Kevin Ruetten.

Ruetten says there are still many open positions at companies in the current job market. Employers are working harder to hire.

Along with finding employees, companies have to work to retain employees.

“They’ve really done a good job of looking at the different pipelines and different things, whether it’s an apprenticeship, or just communicating … ‘start with us and get that job with us, and we’ll put in the time and build the culture and invest in you’ to make them stay,” said Ruetten.

If you missed the fair, you can check out job listings on the Job Center of Wisconsin’s website.
