Couleecap: More households now eligible for homeowners assistance program

LA CROSSE (WKBT) – New changes to income limits may qualify more households for a financial assistance program, Couleecap announced Thursday.

The Wisconsin Help for Homeowners Program provides assistance to homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage, property taxes, or other expenses because of financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year the US Department of of Housing and Urban Development updates income limits that determine eligibility. Now, households earning up to 100% County Median Income ($57,882), Federal Median Income ($44,225), or whichever is higher may apply for assistance.  If a household previously applied but did not meet the income guidelines, they may reapply under the new guidelines.

Homeowners can apply through Couleecap’s website, or by calling 844-260-7709.
