Council Bluffs mom arrested after baby left in van

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — A 30-year-old Council Bluffs woman has been arrested after her baby was found alone in an unlocked van.

The Daily Nonpareil says Tiffany Tunney was arrested Monday night on suspicion of child endangerment.

A passer-by heard the baby inside a van parked in a grocery store lot. Its windows were rolled down a few inches.

The baby girl was crying and sweating, so deputies put her into their vehicle to cool off.

Tunney later told deputies she’d gone inside the store for a couple items and forgot the baby was in the van. The deputies also say Tunney couldn’t remember the girl’s middle name and referred to her as “the new one.”

A phone listing for Tunney couldn’t be found. Online court records don’t list her attorney’s name.
