Cranberry harvest season here in Jackson County

60 percent of the cranberries grown on earth are from right here in the Badger state.

JACKSON CO., Wis. (WKBT) – The cranberry harvest is underway in Wisconsin.

The state’s Cranberry Growers Association held a tour Tuesday to highlight the season.

It is the 27th year that Wisconsin will lead the nation in cranberry production.

And that’s not by accident.

“We have good land for cranberry production. We have growers who are really fantastic at maximizing and making the best of what they’ve got. We also have a really cold winter which protects us from disease,” said UW-Madison division of extension cranberry outreach specialist Allison Jonjak.
