Crews search for man missing on Lake Minnetonka

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities are searching Lake Minnetonka for a 20-year-old man who disappeared after jumping off a boat.

The man jumped off the boat to go swimming near Big Island around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday but never resurfaced.

Four other young adults were aboard the 20-foot boat. They searched the water but could not find their friend.

The Hennepin County sheriff’s office is suing sonar to help find the man. A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter and fire departments from Long Lake, Wayzata, and Excelsior are helping in the search.
