CVS nasal spray recalled over contamination fears
A nasal spray sold by CVS has been recalled over concerns of a microbiological contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The contaminant, identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, can pose life-threatening complications for some patients, including those with cystic fibrosis or who are immuno-compromised.
The recall includes more than 16,000 units of the 0.5 fluid ounce bottle. To this point, Product Quest, the company that produces the nasal spray, has not received any reports of illnesses related to the product.
The affected CVS Health 12 Hour Sinus Relief Nasal Mist was sold nationwide with UPC code 50428432365. The product includes the lot number 173089J with an expiration date of September 2019.
Anybody who has purchased the nasal spray should return it to the place of purchase or throw it away.
