Dairyland Conference gives green light for fall sports
The Dairyland Conference has voted 9-1 in favor of having all fall sports play this fall, according to an official announcement.
Football will be delayed to start practice Sept. 14, a week later than the start of the WIAA’s fall calendar. The first week of the six-week regular season will be on Oct. 2.
Volleyball will start as scheduled the week of Labor Day, with matches beginning Sept. 15. Cross country began on Aug. 17 as a low-risk sport and will proceed as scheduled, with the first meet set for Aug. 24.
The Conference’s official announcement says no concessions will be sold at conference events, and spectators will be limited to four people per participant. A participant will have four free, non-transferable tickets to use. The announcement specifies that “all spectators and participants will be expected to wear face coverings indoors and at outdoor facilities when not properly social distancing from others. Events will be livestreamed by the host school and the list of those websites will be shared at a later date.”
The conference will not keep standings or offer championships this season.
