Davenport man convicted vehicular homicide
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Scout County jury has convicted a Davenport man of vehicular homicide for running over his girlfriend and fleeing the scene but acquitted him of voluntary manslaughter.
The Quad-City Times says the jury returned the verdict on Monday against 37-year-old Eric Olsen. He’s accused of killing 38-year-old Wanda Jo Weldy in January 2011. Her body was found in the middle of a Davenport street.
Prosecutors say Olsen faces up to 10 years in prison for vehicular homicide and up to 5 years for fleeing the scene. Sentencing is set for Aug. 16.
