Davenport man denied permit to sell guns from home
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Davenport man’s application for a permit to sell guns from his home has been rejected.
The Quad-City Times reports that the city’s zoning board voted 3-2 Thursday to deny the home-business permit Kye Staples had sought. Chairman Bruce Bleke and Jim Reistroffer voted for the permit; Edwin Brown, Cathy Hart and Kris Woodard voted against it.
The board made no comment before voting.
Staples says he’ll likely appeal, but added it might “be easier to pack up and move to the country where people understand firearms.”
Several of Staples’ neighbors opposed to the at-home gun-dealing business, telling the board they feared the business would create problems with traffic and parking and lower home values and could introduce gun violence to the neighborhood.
