Daylight Savings Time reminds us to change batteries

Smoke Detector batteries should be changed out every 6 months

Daylight Savings Time began late Saturday night, so don’t forget to set your clocks forward an hour, but there’s another thing you should do at this time of year.

It’s recommended that the batteries in our smoke detectors be replaced about every 6 months, so the beginning and end of Daylight Savings Time seems to be a good reminder for all of us.

An average of three children die per day in home fires, and 80-percent of those occur in homes without working smoke alarms, and the most common cause of nonworking smoke alarms is worn or missing batteries.
