Deer causes crash that injures two in Trempealeau County

Two people were injured following a crash involving a deer in Trempealeau County yesterday.

According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, at about 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle was driving south on Highway 53 when it struck a deer that ran into the roadway. The collision caused airbags to deploy and the driver, Kathleen Cain, to lose control. Cain, 38, of Holmen, crossed the centerline striking another vehicle, driven by Ashton Radde, 21, of Chillicothe, MO, head-on. Both drivers were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The highway was closed for over an hour due to the crash.

The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Trempealeau Police Department, Galesville Fire Department, Galesville First Responders, and Tri-State Ambulance.

The incident is still under investigation.
