Deputy: 1 ejected, several injured in school bus vs. dump truck crash
At least 7 students and bus driver injured
PATCH GROVE, Wis. (WKBT) — At least seven students were injured Tuesday afternoon in a school bus vs. dump truck crash on County Road P at Borah Ridge Road in the town of Patch Grove, Grant County officials said.
Grant County dispatch confirmed the call came in around 4 p.m. for reports of a school bus crash.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Anthony Sheckles confirmed seven students and the bus driver were injured, but they did not release the severity of the injuries.
According to a release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, there were eight students and the driver on the bus at the time of the crash.
The bus entered the intersection from Morgan Road, heading north, as a 2002 Peterbilt dump truck was traveling west on County Road P, investigators said. When the bus and dump truck crashed, the dump truck exited the north shoulder of the road, then went into the ditch and stopped.

The school bus spun around and continued moving backward until it went off the roadway, through a ditch and barbed wire fence and stopped in a pasture, according to the release.
One of the bus passengers was ejected and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance, officials said. Two other passengers were taken to a hospital by parents. One was treated at the scene, and the rest were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.
The names and conditions of the drivers and passengers are not being released at this time.
It appears the school bus is from the River Ridge School District, but district officials declined to comment on the incident.
A Gundersen Health System spokesperson in La Crosse confirmed that MedLink AIR transported patients involved in the crash from Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. They would not confirm how many patients or what condition they were in.
The bus is operated by Warco Transportation out of Bloomington, Wisconsin.
A representative from Warco Transportation declined to comment on the crash Tuesday night.
The crash is being investigated by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the reconstruction.
