Diane Emily Scholze
January 8, 1945 - December 14, 2021
Diane Emily (Kelley) Scholze of Holmen passed away on December 14, 2021, at her home in Holmen, surrounded by her family. She was just a few weeks shy of 77 years old.
Diane was born on January 8, 1945, to Albert and Lillian Kelley. She grew up on the North Side of La Crosse and graduated from Logan High School in 1963. Diane married Philip Scholze of Holmen on May 25, 1968, and they were married for 53 years.
They raised their five children, Kimberly (Scott) Phillips, Kerry (Troy) Bruley, Kory (Kristine) Scholze, Kristina (Tim) Page and Kevin (Mandy) Scholze in the home they built in Holmen. The role that Diane most relished was that of grandma to her 12 grandchildren: Zachary and Marinna Phillips, Jordan, Isaac and Caleb Bruley, Trevor, McKenzie, and Ava Scholze, Tyler Page, Riley, Lucas, and Olivia Scholze, and great-grandmother to Tristan Jens.
Diane studied to be a secretary at the Winona Business School and worked at Ed Phillips & Sons until she left the workforce to raise her children. After her children were all in school, she returned to the workforce to become the Holmen School District’s School Lunch Program secretary for 26 years until she retired in 2008.
Diane loved to socialize and was active in the community. She was a longtime member of the Holmen American Legion Auxiliary and St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton PCCW. Diane loved to travel, go shopping, play bingo and meet friends at lunches.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lillian Kelley, her sister Jean, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Holmen. Rosary will be at 9:15 AM and visitation will be at the church from 9:45 AM until time of the service. Graveside services will follow at the Mormon Coulee Cemetery. Fellowship will be at the Holmen American Legion after the burial.
