DNR educates public on aquatic invasive species

Met with boaters at Nelson's Point Landing

DNR deputies were at Nelson’s Point Landing on French Island Saturday reminding boaters to cleaning their equipment after taking them out of the water.

Their hope was to educate the public on the impact transporting aquatic life out if its natural habitat can have on our local Eco-system.

To keep the rivers and lakes clean, deputies want the public to remember a few tips before heading home after a day on the water.

“Anything green we want of the boats, before you leave, nothing is being transported away from the landing.  All water and weeds and animals need to stay in their original habitat,” said DNR Deputy, Erica Taylor.
