DNR: No snow means problems for candlelight skiing
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A lack of snow in southern and central Wisconsin is causing the state Department of Natural Resources to make some changes to upcoming candlelight ski events.
More than 30 candlelight events are scheduled in January and February at state parks, forests, trails and recreation areas, beginning with five events Saturday.
The DNR says if there isn’t enough snow the events will be held as candlelight hikes or may be cancelled if frozen ground is hazardous to hiking.
Northern Wisconsin hasn’t had the same problem with a lack of snowfall.
The DNR suggests calling ahead to confirm the event will be held.
