Doctors urge breast cancer patients to ask about clinical trials

LA CROSSE (WKBT) – Breast cancer treatments have improved over the years, but doctors agree more needs to be done.

Mayo Clinic Health System experts say cancer patients should ask their healthcare team about clinical trials.

These trials offer therapies and help speed up advances in patient care.

One doctor even said that these trials benefit the patient and the community.

“We can learn whether the treatment would be better than what we currently have as a standard of care.” said Mayo Clinic Health System oncologist Dr. Saranya Chumsri.

If you are interested in signing up for a medical trial, there is a list of trials on the Mayo Clinic Health website.
