Dogs that jump into water compete in central Wis.

Dogs that love to jump into the water are competing at the Central Wisconsin State Fair for a spot in the world championships.

The News-Herald Media reports six dogs participated Thursday afternoon in a preliminary round of the DockDogs Big Air competition in Marshfield.

DockDogs is considered the world’s premier canine aquatics competition. Dogs of various breeds and sizes jumped off a dock into a pool that had been set up at the fair, aiming for distance, height or speed.

Qualifying rounds will be also held through Sunday at the fair, with the final competition Monday morning.

The highest scoring dogs in each division within each category will be invited to compete at the DockDogs World Championships from Nov. 13 to Nov. 17 in Dubuque, Iowa.
