Downtown renovation may impede traffic
Weber Holdings laid out plans to turn Lot C into multipurpose space
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A major renovation to a downtown La Crosse parking lot could be a part of some traffic headaches this year.
Weber Holdings laid out their preliminary plans to turn Lot C by the county jail into a multipurpose space including parking and businesses. They want to break ground in April.
On top of that construction work is ongoing for the new Hampton Inn near the Oktoberfest Grounds and the city has to replace a sewer pipe on part of 2nd Street.
City officials are asking downtown travelers to have extra patience.
“We’re improving our infrastructure, it’s for new development going into our downtown, tax base, and so if it does become a little burdensome, I would say have patience, we’re doing good things downtown, there’s good things going, up, it’s going to be really nice,” said La Crosse Senior Planner Tim Acklin.
The Lot C Renovation will be complete by June of next year.
